A motorcyclist died Tuesday after he was involved in a traffic crash in Palm Harbor.

The crash happened shortly before 7 p.m. on County Road 1 at the intersection with Countryshire Lane.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Robert Charles Vath, 24, was riding a 2012 Suzuki motorcycle south on County Road 1 when Ronald D. Hunter, 74, attempted to cross CR 1 from Countryshire Lane.

Hunter's Toyota Camry traveled into the path of Vath's motorcycle, which collided with the passenger side of the Camry, investigators said.

Vath was thrown from his motorcycle upon impact. He was taken to Bayfront Hospital St. Petersburg, where he later died from his injuries.

Hunter was not injured in the crash.  His passenger, Jerri M. Hunter, 73, sustained serious injuries. She was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital.

The crash closed the northbound lanes of County Road 1 for at least an hour.
