The Hernando County Sheriff's Office is offering free defensive driving classes for teenagers.

The two-day program is designed to help drivers ages 16-18 to learn more about the dynamics of driving and the effect of the forces created by vehicles on the human body.

The classes will be held starting in September, but there are only 10 slots available for each class and participants have to pre-register.

The next session will be held Sept. 19 and 20, with the classroom instruction taking place Friday from 5-9 p.m. at the Sheriff's Main Office in Brooksville.  The range instruction will be held Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Hernando County Airport.

To pre-register, call 352-754-6830 ext. 53660.  A printable registration form is also available at www.hernandosheriff.org.
