After two relatively dry days with slightly cooler morning temperatures and less humidity, rain chances inch upward Friday.

According to Bay News 9 meteorologist Juli Marquez, skies will be partly sunny with a 40 percent chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms.

"It will be hot and a little more humid," Marquez said. "We will have seabreezes on both sides of the state coming together. That will create slightly higher rain chances in areas like Polk County. Still, there may be some scattered showers around the area."

High temperatures will be about 91 degrees today.

Rain chances move even higher during the weekend and the hot temperatures will take a slight dip by the end of the weekend.

Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Bertha, which formed late Thursday, is expected to pass near Barbados Friday afternoon and move through the central Lesser Antilles Friday evening.
