Polk County sheriff's detectives have issued a couple of updates from their investigations into two fatal hit-and-run crashes Saturday.
They described the vehicle that struck bicyclist Hector Chavez at U.S. 92 and Payne Street in Auburndale as a 2010-2013 Chevrolet Camaro.
And in the crash that killed Jill Braddock on Clubhouse Road in Lakeland, they said the vehicle involved was a 2007-2009 Nissan Altima.
The colors of both vehicles remain unknown.
Chavez, 27, was found dead around 2:17 a.m. in the westbound lanes of U.S. 92 at Payne Street in Auburndale. Investigators said it appears he was riding his bicycle when he was struck by a vehicle and then possibly other vehicles.
Around 6:40 a.m., a motorist reported seeing a woman laying next to Clubhouse Road in Lakeland, near Tillery Road. Deputies found 20-year-old Jill Braddock and said she had likely been there for at least a few hours. Braddock often walked home from work in the area, investigators were told.
