Florida's unemployment rate continues to remain the same statewide as it has been for most of the year, but unemployment was up in July in every Central Florida county.
New jobless numbers released on Friday show that the rate for July was 6.2 percent. That's the same rate it was the previous month.
The state's unemployment rate is equal to the national rate. Last month Florida's rate had edged slightly up the U.S. rate.
The new numbers also show that Florida lost 1,600 jobs overall in July. There are an estimated 597,000 people looking for jobs in the state.
Gov. Rick Scott has made the state's unemployment rate and job creation a central part of his re-election campaign. He campaigned on a pledge in 2010 on a pledge to add 700,000 jobs above normal growth.
