A motorcyclist died early Saturday after colliding with a car and being thrown into the glass enclosure of a Hart line bus stop, authorities said.

Gabriel A. Rivera of Tampa was traveling at about 50 mph on N Himes Avenue around 3:30 a.m., the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said. He tried pass a 2002 Honda Accord left of the double yellow line, but when the Accord slowed to make a left turn onto W Hamilton Street, the motorcycle struck the front of the vehicle.

Rivera, who was not wearing a helmet, was propelled into the bus stop enclosure. He was taken to a hospital and later died, authorities said.

No charges were filed against the driver of the car, 51-year-old Blanca I. Sanchez-Diaz of Tampa, but blood samples were taken for analysis. Both men were coming from local night clubs, authorities said.
