An investigation is underway into money missing from a charity account that was set up for the family of the man killed in a January movie theater shooting.

Deputies are looking into how cash may have disappeared from the account set up for Chad Oulson's family. Officials said Oulson was shot and killed by Curtis Reeves, 71, this year.

Fundraisers were held to support his wife and daughter, but their attorney said about $7,000 of those funds never made it to the family.

Oulson's wife, Nicole, released a statement, in which she said, "My concern here is not for myself or the money. My heart aches for those that donated with kindness in their hearts that were taken advantage of."

Reeves is charged with second-degree murder in Oulson's shooting. He is currently on out bail awaiting trial.
