The Clearwater City Council has approved the construction of a new public parking garage on the north end of the beach.

The council unanimously approved the seven-story, 642-space parking garage on Wednesday.

The parking garage would be built on the surface lot behind the Pelican Walk Plaza on Mandalay Avenue and Baymont Street.

The garage, being built by developer Michael Connor, will cost $11.3 million.
