A former middle school principal arrested last April on child molestation charges is back in jail.

Deputies arrested 63-year-old James Jerome Larkin at his S. Tampa home on Wednesday. He is facing a charge of capitol sexual battery on a child under 12.

Deputies said during the follow up investigation of Larkin's arrest in the spring, a man came forward and accused Larkin of molesting him when he was a young child.

The victim went on to say that on an unknown date in 1980, while he was 10 years old, he was sleeping at Larkin's apartment in the Carrollwood area. He told police during the sleepover, Larkin climbed into the bed and sexually assaulted and molested him.

Detectives initiated an extensive investigation that included multiple interviews with witnesses. Upon completion of their investigation, the case was turned over to the Hillsborough County State Attorney's Office who later obtained an arrest warrant through the Hillsborough County Courts.

Larkin was fired from Tampa Day School after his arrest in April. Police said he touched a 14-year-old student inappropriately. Police said Larkin had befriended the victim and his mother after the boy’s father passed away.

Before becoming principal at Tampa Day School, Larkin was headmaster at St. John's Greek Orthodox School in Tampa for 31 years.

Detectives said they are not currently aware of any additional victims, however if other victims do exist, they are encouraged to come forward.
