A local non-profit organization wants to make sure needy teenage girls don't go without formal dresses this homecoming season.

Belle of the Ball is providing free homecoming dresses to girls who are in financial need during a series of events held at the Seminole Mall.

Girls will have the opportunity to shop for their choice of dress in a 4,000-square-foot retail store that has 10 private dressing rooms.  More than 2,000 dresses will be available for them to choose from.

The girls can also choose shoes, purses and jewelry to complement their dresses, and personal shoppers will be available to help each girl.

To qualify, the girl must be present and she must attest to currently having financial difficulties. The girl can also be referred by school social workers, guidance counselors, principals, community involvement personnel, guardian at litems, foster care or another non-profit organization or agency.

The events will be held on Sept. 6, Sept. 20, Oct. 4 and Oct. 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Seminole Mall, located at 11201 Park Blvd., in Seminole.

A nominal donation is requested but not required.

Volunteer opportunities are also available for those who wish to help out.
