A Manatee County deputy shot and killed a man waving a samurai sword at him Thursday morning during a domestic situation.

According to authorities, deputies responded to a convenience store at State Road 70 and 33rd Street East in Bradenton where a woman said she was beaten by her 31-year-old son, later identified as Terry Sellars, Jr.

She told deputies she managed to escape her home in the 3500 block of 58th Avenue East and run to the convenience store.

When deputies responded to the home, the suspect came out of the residence waving a Samurai sword and charged towards one of the deputies, officials said.

A deputy fired at the man, killing him.

No deputies were injured.

An investigation into the shooting is underway.
