The family of a man killed in a hit-and-run accident is asking anyone with information to come forward.

On August 23 around 4:45 a.m., Juan Heredia, 45, was walking along Maggie Drive in Wimauma when was struck.

Family members said he was on his way home after an all night celebration of his own birthday.

"It's really hard, especially for my mom," said Guadalupe Heredia, his sister. "She had him that day and God just took him that same day that he was born, so it's hard for her and hard for us, too."

Relatives said they wonder if he could have seen saved.

"If they would have stopped and helped him, even if they ran him over, if they would have helped, he could possibly still be with us," said Heredia.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said it has very few leads at this point.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 813-247-8200.
