A man and woman were seriously injured early Saturday in an East Tampa house fire that authorities believe stemmed from a domestic dispute.

Firefighters and police were called to the home on the 3000 block of E Ida Street around 2 a.m. and found a man, 58, in front of the house and a woman, 51, in back, both with severe burns.

The fire appeared to be out, but firefighters entered the home and found no other occupants inside, according to Tampa Fire Rescue.

Paramedics treated the injured man and woman at the scene and transported both to the burn center at Tampa General Hospital. They were believed to be in critical condition.

A third person, a 53-year-old man, lives at the residence, but was able to escape safely and was not injured. He is not suspected of being involved in the domestic domestic dispute, police said.

Investigators said the two men live at the house, but the woman does not.

Arson investigators and homicide detectives were on the scene well after sunrise.
