Detectives are investigating the shooting death of a Tampa man on Friday night.
According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, a man called 911 around 11:20 p.m. to say his brother, 52-year-old Shelby Jones, had been shot.
The caller, whom authorities did not name, gave investigators this account:
He and his brother Shelby Jones were inside a shed on their property on the 11000 block of Old Hillsborough Avenue E when a third man wearing a bandana entered. The assailant attempted to rob the brothers and struck the surviving brother on the head with a firearm. When Shelby Jones made an inadvertent move, the assailant fatally shot him in the upper torso.
The surviving brother described the assailant only as an armed white man wearing a bandana.
