Friends and family gathered in Hudson Friday night to remember Nicholas Leonard.

A private memorial service was held at the Sear Ranch Civic Association building.

Leonard, 37, is one of four people found dead last week.

He is the only one of the victims who had lived in Pasco County for awhile.

The others, his new girlfriend, Megan Brown, and her parents Greg and Margaret Brown, had recently moved to the area from Pennsylvania.

Friends describe Leonard as a "kind hearted soul."

He worked as a handyman and they said he was well-liked in his neighborhood.

Friends said he had just started dating Megan and that he got along well with her 4-year-old son.

They also said he hadn't talked about having any problems with Adam Matos, Megan's ex-boyfriend who the Pasco County Sheriff's Office calls a suspect in the case.

Following the memorial service, people lit Chinese lanterns at the Port of Hudson in Leonard's honor.
