A combination of weather influences will keep the afternoon and evening rain chances at 50 percent or better today and tomorrow.

A low pressure area off the west coast of Florida is pulling away, but an upper level low moving over South Florida will bring more moisture across the Tampa Bay area, according to Bay News 9 meteorologist Josh Linker.

That will provide the impetus for showers and storms.

"As we get the heating of the day, we're going to have some fairly hefty showers and thunderstorms," Linker said.

A southeast wind may keep the west coast sea breeze from developing, and if that's the case, Linker said, the storms will move quickly from the southeast to the northwest.

Afternoon highs will be in the low 90s and lows in the mid 70s for the next days.
