U.S. Richard Nugent wants to hear from the area's veterans.

According to the Citrus County Chronicle, Nugent, R-Brooksville, said he hopes to hear from as many of the 20,000 veterans in Citrus County and 111,000 in Congressional District 11, as will write, call or email him their opinions, comments and/or suggestions about local Veterans Affairs (VA) medical services.

“The most important insight I get is from the people on the ground,” Nugent told the Chronicle. “If you want to know how the VA is performing, ask a veteran; don’t ask the PR department at VA headquarters. So when I hear that specific needs aren’t being met, that’s something specific that I can take back to Washington and push for.”

Nugent stressed the importance of hearing directly from veterans, so he can reach out and put pressure directly on the VA.

“Their budget comes from Congress and they need to be allocating those resources the right way,” he said.

Contact Nugent by email through his website at www.nugent.house.gov or write him at: U.S. Rep. Richard Nugent, 1727 Longworth HOB, Washington, DC 20515.

Also, beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at the Crystal River Mall, Nugent will be the guest speaker at the annual Veterans Fair. He will be available to meet and greet the public.
