The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office Explorer Post 900 team took first place in a team shooting event over the weekend.

The team competed against other law enforcement explorers from around the state in the Florida Association of Police Explorers Delegates training and pistol competition. It was hosted by the Seminole County Sheriff's Office at the Seminole County shooting range.

Explorer posts from around the state met for a full day of training. The scenario-based training put participants in a variety of real-life situations, including domestic violence, when to shoot or not shoot, suicidal subjects and police ambush.

In the shooting competition, Explorer Capt. Kelley Butterfield took first place and Maj. Spencer Shaw finished third in the expert division. In the marksman division, Corp. Luke Baker took first place and Lt. Lauren Paschall finished second.
