St. Petersburg police are looking for a man wanted in a July hit-and-run that left an 81-year-old man dead.

Police are asking for the public's help in finding Keith Hamm, 22, who they said was driving a rented silver Nissan Altima on June 4 when he was involved in a crash at the intersection of 15th Avenue S and 25th Street S.

Tomas Melendez, 81, was a passenger in the Toyota Camry that was also involved in the crash.  Melendez died as a result of injuries he received in the crash.

Investigators said Hamm ran from the scene after the crash, and they have not been able to find him since.

Hamm has previous arrests for carrying a concealed firearm and home invasion robbery, and was released from prison in February, police said.

Hamm is described as a black man who stands 5'11" and weighs 303 pounds.

Anyone with information as to his whereabouts is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS (8477) or to visit crimestoppersofpinellas.org. Tipsters can also text tips to TIP144 plus your tip to 274637.  Tipsters may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
