A 22-year-old St. Petersburg man has died as a result of injuries sustained two weeks ago in a motorcycle crash.
According to St. Petersburg police, Steven Michael Baggett died Thursday at Bayfront Health St. Petersburg. Baggett was initially injured in a crash at 73rd Avenue North and Dr. Martin Luther King Street just before midnight on Sept. 4.
Police said Baggett was driving his 2007 Kawasaki motorcycle on MLK when he lost control and tipped over to the left. At the same time, a 2012 Dodge Ram 1500 pick-up truck, driven by Vincent Andrew Mitchell was eastbound on 73rd Avenue North toward MLK.
Baggett slid partially over the top of the southeast corner of the intersection and into the right side of Mitchell's truck, which had almost completed his eastbound turn.
Baggett was transported to Bayfront Health in critical condition.
