The new owner of Channelside Plaza is looking to make another mark on downtown Tampa.

In addition to preliminary plans for a downtown office park and hotel, Lightning owner Jeff Vinik wants to alter some of the Channelside-area street grid, making the area more pedestrian friendly.

According to partner newspaper the Tampa Bay Times, Vinik's companies have asked the city to close a section of Eunice Avenue from Morgan Street to Jefferson Street.

City leaders are scheduled to discuss the possible changes later this month.

Vinik owns 24 acres around the Tampa Bay Times Forum.
