It was a sad season for the Tampa Bay Rays, but that didn’t stop true fans from packing Tropicana Field Sunday for the last home game of the season.

Fans took to their seats dressed in their best Rays gear. Wendy Anderson was decked out from head to toe.

“I have my Rays bracelets and I usually have my nails done with the 'Go Rays,'" said Anderson.

Noah Kennedy, 14, came to the field about two hours early to get autographs.

“I am the biggest fan there is,” Kennedy said.

Even with all the support inside and out, fan Vernon Gayne said it didn’t do much to help them win this season.

“Kind of disappointing," said Gayne. "Based on what we thought we were getting into in the beginning of the year.”

The Rays started out slow, then looked better in early August. But in the end they struck out.

“We left way to many guys on base and our home run hitting was way down,” said Gayne.

The Rays lost to the White Sox Friday officially eliminating them from playoff contention. Fans at the Trop are still hopeful that during the off season they will work out the kinks and get their act together in 2015.

“If we stay healthy we can be a solid contender for the race,” said 13-year-old Zach Holcomb.

“They are going to come back next year and we are going to start big and finish bigger," said Anderson. "And we are going to be going all the way next year you will see.”

The Rays have six more away games. The first is on Tuesday against the Red Sox.
