A push is underway to name a pier after a late former county commissioner who loved fishing.
Roger Batchelor died earlier this month. He had served on the Citrus County Commission for several years.
According to our partners at the Citrus County Chronicle, some who served with him are asking current commissioners to rename the Fort Island Beach Pier after Batchelor.
They say he loved Fort Island Park and he loved fishing, so it would be a perfect tribute to him.
