Deputies are investigating a hit-and-run that left a man dead in Lakeland Friday morning.
According to the Polk County Sheriff's Office, deputies received a call about a man lying on the east side of a ditch in the 9000 block of Kathleen Road.
When deputies arrived at 8:10 a.m., they found the man had died. A bicycle was found nearby.
Officials have not yet identified the man.
Deputies said the preliminary information suggests the man was hit by a vehicle sometime between 5 a.m. and 7:30 a.m.
The investigation continues.
