A toll booth on the Polk Parkway was destroyed after being struck by a street sweeper.

According to FHP, the street sweeper was westbound on the Polk Parkway in the designated Sun Pass lane early Friday morning.

The hydraulic hopper door on the right side of the truck malfunctioned and was in the down position as it entered the lane.

The door struck the unmanned toll booth. The impact caused a fuel leak and approximately 15 to 20 gallons of diesel fuel spilled onto the roadway.

The driver suffered minor injuries.

The toll booth was reopened by 2 p.m. Friday.
