Flooding wasn't the only problem Bay area residents faced during heavy thunderstorms on Friday night.

One resident in Manatee County got stuck when water caused the apartment's roof to collapse in Cortez.

The West Manatee Fire district responded to the roof collapse which took place in the 3800 Block of Catalina Dr. around 6:30 p.m. on Friday night.

Once they arrived, officials said they found the entire roof over the main living room area of the apartment collapsed and water from the rest of the building was rushing in.

The trapped resident was found at the entrance and was rescued.

The building houses four units, with two being occupied at the time.

The county building inspector declared the building unsafe for occupancy.
