A Trinity man has been arrested for illegal use of a blue police light.

Pasco sheriff’s deputies are now asking if anyone has had a run in with 25-year-old Matthew Keith Jones.

Deputies said they discovered Jones was using the blue light after he was involved in a crash Wednesday night at the intersection of Little Road and Trinity Boulevard.

Deputies said a blue LED police light was activated in the center of the windshield inside Jones’ car.

Once the Florida Highway Patrol concluded its investigation of the crash, Jones was arrested and his car was impounded.

Deputies said a search of his silver, 2006 Dodge Charger revealed a loaded revolver, two expandable police batons, and a can of pepper spray. The items were found in nylon duty gear which would fit on a belt.

Deputies said Jones is not a law enforcement member, nor is he a sales person, representative or technician of any company licensed to sale or repair law enforcement equipment.

Jones told deputies he activated the blue light after the crash for an emergency purpose. He also admitted to using the blue light while on the interstate.

Jones is charged with unlawful use/possession of blue light and was taken to the Land O’ Lakes Detention Center.

If anyone has had an encounter with Jones, call deputies at (727) 847-8102 or 1-800-706-2488.
