Pasco-Hernando State College is packed a little fuller this fall.

The college reports a 13.3 percent gain in student enrollment this semester, the biggest increase of any state college in the Tampa Bay area and the largest for PHSC since 2009.

Nearly 11,100 students registered for classes this fall. The college has five campuses in Pasco and Hernando counties.

According to the Tampa Bay Times, college officials attributed the higher enrollment to the opening of the new Porter Campus at Wiregrass Ranch in Wesley Chapel, the launch of two new bachelor's degree programs, new health-related workforce programs and growing interest in online courses.
