An 82-year-old man was shot to death in his Clearwater mobile home Friday night, police said.

Around 11 p.m., Clearwater officers were dispatched to the South Gate mobile home park at 20000 U.S. 19 N to investigate a report of gunshots. They found Allen Bradbury Usher shot inside the home at Lot 715.

Usher was taken to St. Petersburg's Northside Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Police said a witness reported seeing someone running from the scene, described as an Hispanic or white man is his 20s wearing dark clothing. Also, a gray compact vehicle was seen speeding away from the area.

A maintenance employee at the park said Usher seemed like a nice man who had health problems.

“I take his rubbish out," said Lyle Pickup. "He has got a caretaker, she leaves it out there. I take it out on Friday mornings and once in a while he has something he needs carried in. You know, groceries or whatever.  I was shocked ... just shocked.”
