A case of criminal mischief has resulted in thousands of dollars in damage at a Tampa golf course.

According to Tampa police, a driver in a pickup truck pulled onto the Rocky Point Golf Course near Tampa International Airport and tore up the greens, doing donuts across the course.

The damages were on the sixth, seventh and eighth holes along the fairways. The putting green also was damaged on hole no. 8.

Officers said the driver lost control of the truck at some point and flipped over. A witness reported seeing two people run away from the golf course around 9:30 p.m. Sunday. The truck was recovered.

An investigation is underway to identity the driver.

According to officials at the golf course, the damage may be in the $10,000 range.
