Certification for Citrus County fire personnel to perform medical aid will remain in place for right now.

Last August, Citrus County commissioners voted to give fire rescue crews the ability to render medical aid in case they have to wait for an ambulance.

Commission Chairman Scott Adams brought up the issue for discussion Tuesday. He said he wants to make sure tax money is being spent wisely and there is no duplication of services.

No changes were made to the policy.

"I think each commissioner has really been briefed up from everybody and that's good," Adams said after the meeting.

According to partner newspaper the Citrus County Chronicle, fire officials provided the board data of call logs and response times in certain areas to trauma and emergency aid requests.
