What started as an armed robbery in Polk County on Thursday night turned into a dangerous chase and the discovery of two apparent murder victims in a Haines City home.

A search for the suspects is underway and residents in at least one community are being asked to stay in their homes and lock their doors.

During a press conference late Thursday night, Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said that two of four suspects have been arrested in connection with a robbery in Aurburndale, which occurred at a Cash America Pawn on Havendale Boulevard around 5:45 p.m. Thursday.

Police then determined that four black men fled east on U.S. 17/92 in a burgundy GMC Jimmy. A Haines City police officer spotted the vehicle and began a pursuit.

That's when police officers said the men shot at the patrol vehicle and shot out their own back window in the process. Other officers joined in the pursuit before the suspects' vehicle crashed in the Chanler Ridge community, west of U.S. 27 and north of U.S. 17/92 in Haines City.

Officials said four suspects ran, but one suspect was caught by a sheriff's K-9 and immediately taken into custody.

Shortly after, law enforcement received information from a resident that a house nearby had suspicious activity.

Deputies and officers surrounded the house.

A blue car burst out of the garage traveling straight at the deputies and officers. Law enforcement started shooting at the car before it went airborne and crashed. The suspect was shot and bitten by a K-9 before being taken into custody. His injuries are non-life threatening.

Deputies discovered two adults were murdered inside the home, but their relation, if any, is unknown to the suspect at this time.

"While we were conducting the investigation, we have now found two deceased adults in the house in which the vehicle burst from," Judd said during the press conference. "We have that under investigation by our homicide unit."

Two other suspects are at large and deputies said they are considered armed and dangerous.

"We anticipate that they are scared, they are armed," Judd said. "They have already demonstrated they will kill people and shoot at law enforcement. We're not taking any risks. They can come and be arrested peacefully, which is what we want, but if they point guns at us, make no mistake, we will shoot them a lot.

Residents in Chanler Ridge and surrounding areas are asked to stay inside their home and lock their doors.

Deputies ask that if anyone sees anything suspicious, please call 911. Anyone with information about the suspects' whereabouts, you can remain anonymous and be eligible for a CASH REWARD - call Heartland Crime Stoppers at 1-800-226-TIPS (8477).
