A 38-year-old Gibsonton man was killed Wednesday evening along U.S. Highway 41.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Fausto Vicente-Sontay was struck by a vehicle at 6:18 p.m. while walking along the northbound shoulder of the highway.
Troopers said Vicente-Sontay was not using an available sidewalk when he was hit by a Ford Focus being driven by Mary Ann Saunders, who did not see the victim.
Vicente-Sontay was taken to Tampa General Hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Saunders was not injured.
No charges have been filed.
