Manatee County schools recently received high marks for its school lunch program.

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services reviews school lunch programs every year, as required by the Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010.

As part of the review, the team visited six Manatee County schools: Samoset Elementary, Tillman Elementary, Daughtrey Elementary, Visible Men’s Academy, Braden River High and Buffalo Creek Middle. The schools are part of the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Program.

All six campuses passed the review. Sandra Ford, Director of Food and Nutrition Services, credited the program's success to a great team that focuses on the students.
