A group of Trinity residents are up in arms about the possibility of a daycare going in their backyard.

Residents of Trinity Oaks complain traffic is already congested in the area, and a daycare would only add to the problem.

“That’s a hazard out there,” said neighbor, William Zbikowski.

“To get out of here is a nightmare,” said HOA President, Ron Levi.

“In the morning and the afternoon you can’t even get out of your driveway,” said neighbor, Ingrid Schlueter.

And there are other issues, the neighbors say.

“Water comes from all different directions and it comes in here and it kind of settles in,” said Zbikowski. “That’s why we’ve had flooding, we’ve had flooding in the streets.”

The home owner's association created flyers so that more people can help petition to stop the daycare from being built. It has also collected around 400 signatures against it.

The daycare is part of the franchise Creative World and will serve 186 children. Residents say the county should address the potential issue.

“The daycare center is not bad, but all of the things that are coming along with it, that’s where the problem lies,” said Zbikowski.

The county’s zoning administrator says those things will be discussed.

“We will review it for storm water, for transportation, landscaping, parking,” said County Zoning Administrator, Carol Clark.

What some residents really want is the daycare stopped all together. “Unfortunately, this is very frustrating for the neighbors, they would like us to be able to just say no because they don’t want it there and were not in a position to be able to do that,” said Clark.

However, it won’t stop neighbors from trying.

The county is requiring Creative World to hold a neighborhood meeting for public comment before any permits are issued.

The CEO of Creative World Schools, Dr. Marianne Whitehouse, released the following statement regarding the proposed daycare center:

"Creative World School’s new Trinity Oaks location will complement the elementary school across the street.  Creative World’s eight schools in the greater Tampa Bay area are all proximate to elementary schools and all complement the schools and surrounding neighborhoods.  We take the residents’ concerns about traffic and storm water seriously and will work closely with Pasco County and the residents to make sure that they are properly addressed."
