A 6-year-old girl suffered minor injuries Friday morning when she was struck by a pickup truck on the way to school.

The crash happened at 21st Street at 5th Avenue SE in Ruskin.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, the girl was walking from a side street to get on the stopped school bus. The driver of a pickup truck did not stop for the bus and didn't see the girl, striking her, troopers said.

The girl, a student at Cypress Creek Elementary School, suffered minor injuries but was taken to South Bay Hospital.

It is not clear if the 24-year-old driver of the truck was cited.

This was not the only pedestrian crash involving children on Friday.

Two children, a brother and sister, escaped serious injuries when they were hit by a vehicle in the Rogers Garden Elementary School parking lot in Bradenton.

One of the kids was taken to an area hospital to be checked out.
