A north Florida woman is facing charges after authorities say her son and his three friends jumped out of her vehicle and ran for help because they were afraid of her drunken driving.

Gainesville police say the children - all age 11 - ran into a Steak `n Shake restaurant Tuesday evening and had a customer call 911. The children told police that they got out of 45-year-old Angela Renee Woodworth's car after she hit a pole. Police found Woodworth and said she appeared intoxicated and smelled of alcohol.

The Gainesville Sun reports that Woodworth, who lives in Interlachen, was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana and four counts of child neglect. Jail records didn't say if she had an attorney.
