Port Richey police have identified the body of a man found floating behind a restaurant in the Pithlachascotee River Sunday.

Police confirmed Monday that family members have identified the body as 67-year-old David Albert Slingerland of Hudson.

No foul play is suspected.

Port Richey police say the body washed up behind Catches Waterfront Grille just after 6 p.m. The restaurant is located at 7811 Bayview Street.

Slingerland was reported as missing to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office Sunday morning. Slingerland's vehicle was found behind Hooters at 5336 Treadway Drive in Port Richey.

According to police, Slingerland sent text messages to a friend and a family member during the early morning hours of Sunday that caused them concern, resulting in the missing person alert to the sheriff's office.
