Tampa police say one suspect may be responsible for a pair of separate, random stabbings.

The first stabbing happened Dec. 27 at 9:30 p.m. in the 4700 block of Armenia Avenue. Police said the victim was walking on Armenia Avenue when the suspect approached the woman from behind and stabbed her in the chest.

The second one happened Jan. 20 at the southeast corner of Armenia Avenue and Violet Street. Police said the woman was sitting on a bus bench at 8:30 p.m. when the suspect approached her and asked if she was waiting for the bus. The woman answered yes, and when she turned toward the bus, the suspect stabbed her in the neck.

In both cases, the women sustained serious injuries that were not life-threatening.

Investigators said the descriptions of the suspects in both stabbings are similar, and the stabbings happened in the same area. As a result, they said they believe the suspect may live in the area where the stabbings happened.

Police describe the suspect as a white or Hispanic man between 20 and 30 years old. He is very skinny, stands 5'7" and has short, curly hair.
