Now that the Tampa teenager who was beaten by Israeli police has been cleared of any wrongdoing, he can return to Jerusalem to visit his relatives.

Over the weekend, the U.S. Consulate in Jerusalem said they were informed that the case against 15-year-old Tariq Khdeir has been closed and he's been cleared of any wrongdoing at a Palestinian protest in Jerusalem in July.

Khdeir said he's been waiting nearly seven long months for that answer.

"I wanted an answer a long time ago but at the same time I'm saying, I hadn't done anything wrong," he said. "How could it take that long to clear it out? There was nothing to do."

Khdeir said the protest was for his 16-year-old cousin who was kidnapped and burned alive. Palestinian authorities say that death was revenge for three Israeli teens who were killed in the Gaza Strip.

Khdeir's brutal beating by an Israeli police officer was caught on video and made worldwide headlines.

"They accused me of throwing rocks and I told them I didn't throw any rocks, I was just on the side watching from a distance," he said.

Khdeir said he plans to return to Jerusalem this summer for a cousin's wedding.

"I was worried that I wouldn't be able to see my family again," he said. "So, that's why I want to go back, 'cause I don't want to abandon my family."
