A car crashed into a Tampa restaurant Tuesday evening, leaving a diner in the hospital and the driver in jail.

According to Tampa police, Sully Marie Torre-Medina was drunk when her car plowed into the patio area of the Independent Bar and Cafe at 5016 North Florida Avenue just before 7 p.m.

Several diners were on the patio at the time of the crash. One man was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital, where he was treated overnight. However, there were no serious injuries, police said.

The crash caused about $1,000 worth of damage to the patio area and the restaurant.

Officers said Torre-Medina, 29, lost control of her car and crashed into the Seminole Heights eatery. According to authorities, Torre-Medina tried to take off after the crash, but restaurant patrons stopped her.

Investigators said Torre-Medina's blood alcohol level was 0.16, which is twice the legal limit. Police also found a small amount of marijuana in her car.

Torre-Medina was charged with DUI with injury and marijuana possession. She is being held at the Orient Road jail on a $3,000 bond.
