A passenger in a pickup truck carrying five people died after a rollover crash on I-275 early Saturday, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Kandice Michelle Tapia, who was first taken to Tampa General Hospital, was the only one of five occupants in the truck not wearing a seatbelt and the only one ejected and fatally injured.

It was not immediately known where the 24-year-old Tampa woman was sitting in the 2006 Ford F-150 dual-cab truck. Three other passengers suffered only minor injuries.

The driver, 22-year-old Karen Juarez of Tampa, was seriously injured and taken to Tampa General.

Troopers said the truck was going north on I-275 approaching the I-4 interchange in the inside center lane around midnight. Juarez lost control of the truck, which swerved across traffic onto the outside shoulder and crashed into the concrete barrier wall.

The truck overturned several times, during which time Tapia was ejected.

The crash closed portions of I-275 until 5 a.m.
