The Central Library in downtown Bradenton will close for three months starting next week.

The library will remain closed through the end of April while crews replace the building's heating and air conditioning system, which is nearly four decades old.

While this is happening, crews will work on other parts of the building to make it more accessible and compliant with the federal Americans with Disabilities Act.

Plans include widening the space between shelves, moving computers to the first floor and changing the alarm system so it has both visual and audio alerts.
