A building boom has been taking place along County Line Road in Polk and Hillsborough counties.

Amazon opened a massive distribution center on the Polk County side of the highway last year. Now, a company called Central Florida Development is starting work on a major project on the Hillsborough County side of the highway in Plant City.

The Central Florida Development project will start with a 100,000 square foot building that could be used for warehousing, commercial or manufacturing. If the project is built out as planned, it could be worth more than $20 million.

"We are believers in the area and we have invested accordingly," said Jeff Lucas with Central Florida Development.

He believes there will be a great deal of other development in the area.

"I think the area has had a lot of stuff in addition to Amazon. And I think there is going to be a lot more go in there," Lucas said. "We own an additional 72 acres down the road and there is a lot of other developable land in that area."

Plant City is expected to push hard for development in the area to take place on its side of County Line Road.
