Those who loved the 1950s are in for a treat in Manatee County.

A new restaurant, Lou’s Diner, has dedicated its menu, décor and more to that time period.

“I just felt like there was nothing like this on Main Street,” owner Thomas Stynes said. “I thought it was a good idea and I thought it would be a great fit for the downtown area.”

Located on Main Street in downtown Bradenton, Lou’s Diner takes customers back six decades.

The menu consists of old-fashioned treats like meatloaf, pot pie, burgers, sandwiches, root beer floats and milkshakes.

Customers said they’re happy with the new restaurant, which is already attracting large crowds.

“I’ve been waiting a long time for this restaurant to open,” James Sullivan said. “It’s one of a kind. I’m excited.”

Stynes said he’s hoping it will do well.

“I’ve seen this kind of diners and I’m a fan of them,” he said. “If done correctly, they serve good home-style meals and good quality food at reasonable prices.”

Lou’s Diner is open during the week from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. It’s open until 2 a.m. on the weekends.
