Tampa police have made two arrests in connection with last month’s murder of an 18-year-old man.

Ezekiel Marc, 20, and a 16-year-old girl are facing charges in connection with the shooting death of Eion Gustitis.

Police said Marc was arrested on suspicion of being an accessory after the fact to an armed robbery with a firearm, while the teenage girl is facing charges of being an accessory after the fact to first-degree murder.

Police have not yet arrested a suspect in connection with the actual homicide, although they believe the shooter is someone who is known to the 16-year-old girl.

Gustitis’ body was found on Sept. 6 by a pedestrian who was walking along Commerce Street, police said. There was no identification on Gustitis, but his body was identified when his mother came forward after reading a press release that described the clothing and jewelry worn by the victim, police said.

Investigators said Gustitis was suspected of stealing a cellphone and about 10 grams of marijuana while at a party. The person from whom the phone and marijuana were stolen asked the girl and two others to “take care of it,” police said.

On Sept. 5, Marc picked up Gustitis at his apartment and drove him to a home on Commerce Street. At some point later that night or early the next day, someone got out of the car with Gustitis, and then a few minutes later came back to the car alone with Gustitis’ shorts and money, saying, “It’s done; let’s go,” police say.

Marc was given $30 or $40 of the money that was taken from Gustitis, police said.

The teenager later told detectives that she threw the murder weapon, as well as a box of bullets, into a lake to keep police from finding it, officials said.

On Sept. 15, the TPD dive team recovered a box of .22-caliber bullets from the lake. The following day, the dive team found a Jennings .22-caliber pistol from the lake.

Police said the autopsy determined Gustitis was shot with a .22-caliber bullet.

Anyone with information and who wishes to remain anonymous is asked to call Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay at 1-800-873-TIPS.

We are not identifying the teenage suspect as it is not yet known whether she will be charged as an adult.
