The man's body found floating in the Gulf of Mexico this afternoon has been identified.

The sheriff's office received a call from the Coast Guard at 2:14 p.m. indicating a boater had located a body. The man was identified as 64-year-old John Curtis Sr., of Port Richey.

Investigatiors said Curtis left on the boat, which belonged to a friend, by himself around 10 a.m. from the Hudson Marina with food and fishing gear. The boat was also found in the Gulf.

Detectives said at this time there does not appear to be any signs of foul play.

The case will be pending results from the Medical Examiner's autopsy.
