A 911 operator is being credited with helping bring Hernando County's newest resident into the world.

Little Miyah Jan Mineo is only a day old and she's already got an epic story under her belt.

"Basically we were on our way to the hospital [when] we decided we weren't making it," her mom, Christina said. "We were about a mile away from grandma's. We went to grandma's and I had a baby on her couch."

That's right. The little bundle of joy was delivered on grandma's couch.

Her dad, Andy isn't a doctor but he played one when he delivered her Tuesday night.

"It's not everyday that your wife's in labor on your grandma's couch and you deliver a baby," he said. "I have no medical training so I had no idea what to do."

Thankfully he had help. And it was all captured on a 911 call.

On the call, Andy can be heard saying, "Her head's coming!" Followed by the 911 operator saying, "The head's presenting? I'm going to give you some instructions, can you stay with me?"

The Hernando County 911 operator on the other end of the call was supervisor Kristy Faulkingham. She walked the proud father through the delivery.

"I'm wondering how he kept calm. He was amazing," Faulkingham said. "It was pretty basic. With him being so calm, it makes my job easier. I was able to stay calm."

That calm was followed by screams from mom and then dad screaming, "I got my baby in my hands!"

"Unfortunately, our telecommunicators usually deal with citizens on the worst day of their life, it is refreshing to occasionally be involved in an event that is the best day of their life," said Sheriff Al Nienhuis. "I'm sure that both the baby's father and Supervisor Faulkingham will have fond memories of this day for the rest of their lives."

The family said they've already gotten rid of the couch the baby was born on.
