Jason and Cassia Hitch have been married almost one year. Unlike most couples, they’ve spent the first year of their marriage being local celebrities in the Hernando town.

“It was pretty monumental to have thousands of people tweeting and Facebooking (us),” Jason Hitch said.

The couple appeared on TLC’s 90 Day Fiancé, a show that follows international couples that need to get married in 90 days or face deportation. They'll also be featured in the show's Where Are They Now special. Cassia was born and raised in Brazil. She obtained a K-1 visa that allowed her to come to the United States, but only for three months.

“Despite being a 90 day visa and the show being called 90 Day Fiancé, it’s not that we just met and we have to (get to) know each other for 90 days,” Cassia said.

The Spring Hill couple met each other through Facebook in 2012. They started talking, messaging each other every day. Eventually, Jason traveled to Brazil to meet Cassia face to face. They knew it was more than a crush.

Despite the miles and the age difference – Jason is 39 and Cassia is 24 – they know their love is real.

“I know who I am and I know what I want,” Jason said. “And it’s her. I know I want to be with her forever.”

Cassia knew she wanted to be with someone that helped her grow and Jason fit the bill.

“I wanted someone that would be different from me so I could learn things,” Cassia said. “Who better than someone from another country? It could be any other but he was the lucky one.”

The duo is known in the area. They are often stopped while running errands, but they’re happy to make new friends. Things, however, still get a little weird.

“We had one woman shopping at another store, she saw (our) car in the parking lot,” Jason said. “So then she meandered into the shop just to find us.”

Many couples from across the world are reaching out the Hitches, asking for advice and help with the visa process.

“That’s the good part of it,” Cassia said. “That’s why I don’t regret 100 percent doing the show because we can help other people with our experience.”
