Police are looking for a man they say stole more than $100,000 worth of prescription drugs from a St. Petersburg Walgreens.

The robbery happened at the Walgreens in the 6700 block of Central Avenue, according to the St. Petersburg Police Department.

Police say the pharmacist noticed a large number of prescription painkillers missing Tuesday morning and called police.

Investigators reviewed the store’s surveillance video and determined the theft had happened sometime around 11 p.m. Monday.

The video shows a man who appears to be in his 20s forcing open the locked metal shutter at the pharmacy counter. After he takes a large number of pills, he walks out of the front of the store.

Store workers said they noticed suspicious behavior, but they thought he had stolen candy, and he didn’t stop when they said something.

Police released surveillance video showing the suspect, as well as a photo showing the suspect’s car. The car is described as a newer black Chevrolet with a Michigan plate with partial number 6882____.

Anyone with information is asked to call the non-emergency number for police at 893-7780 or text SPPD and the tip to TIP411.
